Welcome to QB! (head banging against wall) :). It can definitely be a challenge, but the key to getting off on the right foot will be the setting up of your time-keeping / time cards in QB TImeKeeper. If you set up your tasks based on the standard project phases (see parallel discussion in this Forum regarding Project Phase Numbering). Following the AIA B101 phase categories may be a good structure potentially? From there, when you "import" your time into QB for billings/invoices, it stays in those groupings. They can be collapsed or left expanded for what is actually seen in the Invoice. The hardest part in set-up will be related to billing rates which likely vary per participant; you'll need to replicate each phase/category for each rate (e.g. Draftsman, Job Capt, Project Mgr, Principal, etc.). You may want to engage a bookkeeper familiar with QB to help you set it all up initially. Good luck.

Subject: Quickbooks Online Invoicing
My company recently switched to Quickbooks online and we are struggling to produce progress billing invoices which show all the information expected by our clients. Any advice or guidance on this issue from others would be greatly appreciated. Or suggestions for small business accounting programs which support professional services billing. Thanks!
