The Buildings Breakthrough initiative aims to foster international collaboration to decarbonize the building sector and enhance climate resilience. The authors invite feedback on the indicators, metrics, and policy recommendations to enable delivery of Near-Zero Emission and Resilient Buildings (NZERBs) globally. This consultation focuses on the final elements needed to support implementation, namely:

    • Proposed indicators and metrics to assess NZERB performance across the building-life cycle
    • Their linkages to existing standards and certification systems,
    • Policy recommendations for governments and stakeholders to enable delivery at scale
