Have an idea regarding emergency response but do not have the funding to advance it from cerebral to real. Let me know if there's anybody in this group who knows how to obtain money either from the government or organizations such as the Red Cross that would lend an ear to hearing of an idea to provide relief in areas that may suffer a catastrophic event.

Hi Michael - I played in the realms of EPA community change grants last year as my clients needed tech assistance to write grants for inflation act money.  My search started with grant writers in the climate change realm - who are currently panicking with the non-profit sector under siege from the inevitable budget cutting.  There will be new approaches to finding money, but so far we're hearing that the best is to approach your congressional delegates to see if you can apply for direct earmarks.

I think the proper term these days are community designated funds.   If your congress people see that the idea fits with their agenda, they will advance your proposal.   If you want to tag along with how the non profits are reacting to DOGE, the national representative is called the NCN - https://www.councilofnonprofits.org/   good luck!

Hazard mitigation right now is focused mainly on engineered reactions to disasters, instead of looking at change through other means like land policy, or overall mitigation strategies related to re-designing modernist civil engineering (technocentric) into more anthropocentric and eco-centric measures.   But whatever your idea is, i'm sure it will be a help.  I originally started approaching mitigation from a sea level rise perspective, and concluded that we are going to need to take every building to a living building to truly mitigate the hazards that face us.  Our centralized infrastructure is killing or will kill us.
