We are pleased to share an update on the 2024 Future Forward Grant recipients work - the published Framework of It Take's a Village: A Parents & Caregiver's Initiative. (See HERE)
The "It Takes a Village" initiative seeks to help architectural firms of all sizes support their staff who have taken leave as caregivers. While especially focused on new parents as an exciting and challenging time, the initiative also recognizes the significant needs of parents with children before kindergarten, those with special needs, and employees who take leave to care for elders or other family members. The published framework outlines a practical guide to navigating pre, during, and post-leave for parents and caregivers in architecture.
As the YAF mentor for this group, I am extremely excited for this milestone for Alya, Silvia, and Elona, as well as the amazing work that the Future Forward Grant allows. This work represents well over a years' worth of effort from the grant recipients, who have also presented this at AIA 2025, Women's Leadership Summit, and AIAU.
Please take a look at the framework and share with your networks.
The Future Forward Grant is a project presented by the Large Firm Roundtable (LFRT) and the AIA Young Architects Forum (YAF) and supports the testing of new ideas that disrupt the traditional conception of practice, process, and product in the field of architecture.
Kudos to the 2024 FFG Recipients: Alya Staber, Silvia Colpani, and Elona Habipi!
And thanks to the Young Architects Forum and Large Firm Round Table for their support with the Future Forward Grant.
