Fellow SFx-ers,
In addition to being the AIA SFx Maryland State REP - I have a separate interest in K-12 Initiatives and Mentorship/Professional Development at the College/Graduate School Level.
Anyway…
I am participating in the newly formed AIA | K-12 Enthusiasts Group via AIA National and we had a meeting yesterday afternoon. Therefore,
I wanted to pass around this fantastic resource in case anyone is looking for a way to participate and/or get involved with Architecture Week, April 13-19: https://www.aia.org/architecture-week.
For example, Devon Davis (Sr., Manager, K-12 Initiatives & Engagement) shared this idea - and I thought it was a super creative thing to do - especially to bring awareness to Architecture Week.
She picked a teacher (this could be someone at your child's school, one of your former teachers, a friend who is a teacher, the Media Specialist/Librarian at a local school, etc.) - and sent one of her favorite Architecture Books to them with this letter: https://www.aia.org/sites/default/files/2025-02/Letter%20to%20schools%20ArchWeek25.pdf. I would also assume that you could send a Book via Amazon and just put a gift note in and e-mail this letter separately - if that was easier to do!
There are SO many other ideas on the website - really hope you'll take a few minutes to browse through it!
(And, if you're interested in learning more about the K-12 Group, please let me know!)
