Join a distinguished network of architects who are stepping up when their communities need it most. This workshop will teach participants to conduct rapid damage assessments of structures affected by earthquakes, wind, and water. It utilizes volunteers and mutual aid resources to provide professional engineers, architects and certified building inspectors to assist local governments in safety evaluation of their built environment in an aftermath of a disaster.

    Hello George,

The Safety Assessment Training is presented as virtual training where attendance is verified throughout the session and also as an in-person training.  The attendance form of SAP training depends on the organization that arranged for the training. The SAP training is presented either as a full day or two consecutive half day sessions.

Whatever the presentation format I highly recommend the offering for all architects.  You will be amazed at what you learn, and appreciate the service you can provide to your community.

    With my regards,

    Ken

    Hello George,

The Post Disaster Building Evaluation via the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal-OES) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is offered as a virtual training and an in person attendance training.

The training is, and has been offered in both of the above delivery methods, in a full day training session, and in two half day sessions.

The virtual training and the in person training, as well as the one day or two half-day trainings are determined by the training session organizer be it a local AIA Component, the national AIA, or another organization.

However the training is offered, as one who has undergone the SAP training, and as a SAP trainer, I cannot express the high professional value and elevated personal satisfaction one will experience by taking the SAP course.  That person wil be a better professional and a valuable resource to their community.

I look forward to seeing your name on the AIA roster of SAP credentialed architects.

    With my regards,

    Ken
