    Hey everyone! It's that time of year again... time to think about attending this year's AIA Conference! I, for one, am perpetually in shock at the price of registration... and that's the early bird rate! Now that live in California, bopping down to San Diego for a few days in June could be fun, even if I don't end up attending Conference.

    Word has it that Out in Architecture Volume II might launch at Conference...! OK full disclosure, I'm the managing editor this time around. Our AIA session was unceremoniously rejected, but we're still planning some kind of Conference-adjacent event.

    Hey I noticed on the conference schedule that there are lots of affinity groups meeting on Thursday evening, 6pm on... I'm wondering if this is a good time for us to meet up somewhere in proximity to the conference? I do not know San Diego, so I can't offhand suggest a meetup site. I wonder also if we can enlist some San Diego architects to join and suggest a venue?

    I've been slowly communicating with some of my colleagues and partners about hosting a pre-convention LGBTQIA+ alliance happy hour. Stay tuned :) It would take place the day before the convention start -- still very much in progress.

    San Diego architect here.  Happy to help connect/coordinate an event during the Convention.  What do we have in mind?  In previous years/cities we have had an LGBTQIA+ Happy Hour/Social near the Convention Center, although here in SD we may want to host it up in Hillcrest.

    Hi everyone! 

    The Gensler San Diego office is happy to host the AIA LGBTQIA+ Alliance Happy hour. We're hosting it on Tuesday, June 9th at our SD office downtown. This is a short walk to the convention center and nearby hotels. While we understand some people may not get into San Diego until Wednesday, the convention schedule currently is pretty jammed pack and wanted to avoid time conflicts. For reference, I was part of the team to host 2024 Chicago LGBTQIA+ happy hour, which also occurred the day before and still had over 150+ attendees. 

    Please DM me if you're interested in the planning. We're looking for additional sponsors/partners for DJs and drag performers.

    Hi A.L.,

    So excited that Out in Architecture Volume II will debut at the A'26 Conference.  Do you happen to know when we are planning to launch?  My schedule is usually pretty tight, but I might try to make it out this year if I can.  Sad to hear our session was rejected since we had a great launch of the Alliance's work at A'24, but I'm glad to hear we will be represented in some capacity - conference adjacent.  Eric (my co-chair) is planning to attend so you'll at least have one NYC rep in town.

    Looking forward to learning more, and thanks for putting the buzz out on the new book!
