Associate Level in an Architecture/Interior Design Firm

  • 1.  Associate Level in an Architecture/Interior Design Firm

Our 30-person firm is adding an "Associate" level of leadership. We have four principals - two senior principals (40 years experience) and two "junior" principals (20 years experience). Basically, the definition of an Associate is one who has demonstrated diverse or special skills of value to the firm and have also proven to be an authority in a particular subject matter and/or have demonstrated a high level of effective management on the firm's design projects. A "Senior" Associate is a licensed/registered professional with at least five (5) years at the firm.

So ... the question. Besides the title itself, are there any suggestions regarding what additional benefits or "perks" should go along with the title that other firms are providing?

Pay their AIA Dues and if you pay for Continuing Ed they should share within
via Lunch N Learns. Consider  paying for appropriate trade events and local networking, it helps spread the wealth of your brand and knowledge across the company.
