The new IPad 2 will allow certain apps to mirror output to HDMI projector or use Apple TV and WIFI or MIFI to have Ipad remotely project on screen or projector. zooming in on PDF plan can be slow. New IOS5 promises more mirroring this fall.

I recently purchased an iPad2, which is a really nice tool.  I got the version that has 3G and an internal GPS, which is very useful.  I originally bought it because I am a pilot and I can put all of my charts and aviation resource documents on it, thereby saving weight and enough money to pay for it over a relatively short period of time, but I also use it in my practice to take notes and send and receive email when away from the office.  I chose the model with the most memory, to avoid running out of storage capacity, but even with charts for the entire US and parts of Canada, and maps of much of the world, I have plenty of capacity left, so I may have gotten more memory than I actually needed.

It is also useful for ground travel maps and directions.  Using the various map apps, it is possible to quickly locate aerial or satelite photos of project sites and environment, including topo.  Because of the built-in GPS, the iPad2's location on the map is indicated.  Synching with my PC in order to share documents is a bit tricky, but possible with a little practice, albeit somewhat more cumbersome than it should be.  I can download Word files and spreadsheets to it, and modify them on the road, then transfer them back to the PC upon return to the office.  It is also useful for showing potential clients my website and other web resources.
