I must agree with Klaus. My experience in Mexico was similar. Even though we were required to use metrics, all the construction products used (e.g. concrete block, steel shapes, door frames) were manufactured from US components and were manufactured in feet/inches. I was probably more confused than the construction workers installing them. The only way to use metrics effectively is with metric components. Maybe someday we'll join the rest of the world, unfortunately too late I fear.
