    We have split projects into phases and the next phase doesn't begin until the prior phase is paid in full.

    Does anyone have a good system they can share regarding fee collection? Public entities are generally good about paying within 30 days, but many of our private clients are 60/90 days (or more) out.

    How do you bill/ collect/ encourage quick payments/ etc?

    Take a look at the AIA Best Practices, Getting Paid or Managing Accounts Receivable. Both have good advice on the subject.  The chapter, Services and Compensation (part of chapter 15) in the Architects Handbook of Professional Practice 15th Edition also has a good discussion on approaches to collecting fees.  AIA Best Practices are available to AIA members on the AIA web site under Practicing Architecture.  You may purchase chapters from the Handbook at the AIA Bookstore.
