I am involved in a project for which one of the owner's goals is to follow the Passive House design criteria to creating a high performance building. The Passive House design approach is to create a super insulated, air tight building envelop in order to minimize the HVAC and electrical load. Most of the examples of projects I can find that have been designed and built are single family homes. This project is a public community building with an assembly space for approximately 100 people. The overall size of the building will be 17,000 sf on two levels.
I have been involved in many LEED certified projects, but have no experience with Passive House. I am curious if anyone in our Knowledge Community has experience with Passive House design in a non-residential building type.
