I did not study architecture for 5 years, intern for three years and pass a grueling 5 day examination to be called a project manager, job captain or any of the other titles in common use. I did it to be and to be called an architect. I think every title should include architect. Here are some suggestions.

Intern architect (change the law, it makes no sense)
Principal in Charge
Principal Architect
Project Manager
Project Architect
Job Captain
Technical Architect
Designer
Design Architect
Etc.
