I find it most interesting that in my over 30 years of professional practice, this discussion continues. What we title our younger and unlicensed colleagues should really be less important than what other businesses are allowed to call their "professionals".
If we search the internet for architect jobs, about 90% of the listings are for IT staff.
When did we allow the lawyers to restrict the use of "architect" as a job description from someone trained to be an architect or with architectural experience, but allow unlicensed and even someone without a college degree to call themselves architects, because they know how to program a number of computer servers?
Remember the titles for Domestic Engineers, Sanitation Engineers, Food Service Engineers, and Stockroom Engineers?
