It's truly unfortunate that we haven't long ago taken steps to protect the term "architect". Now virtually every computer programing position describes itself as being a "software architect", "network architect", or similar appellation. I suspect if any registration authority tried to rightfully enforce our exclusive use of the term the courts would say that we're too late, having not contested the computer industry when we should have.
