  • 1.  Selling Old Construction Drawings

What purpose will the old construction drawings serve?

They may have little to no value unless they are going to be used to later renovate the existing building. In that case their value to the building owner might be the fee he would pay someone to generate record drawings of areas for use in future renovation.

An indemnification for the design professionals who produced those drawings would be absolutely necessary.

As a rule, we will provide new building owners with PDF's of old drawings. We view it as an opportunity to engage a potential new client. We will also, as a professional courtesy, share CAD files with other architects, (not owners or real estate agents) subject, of course, to a complete indemnification.
