Big changes are coming to The FGI Guidelines - the minimum ‘code’ standards for healthcare facilities in 44 states. Input is needed from the entire design profession (architects, engineers, interior designers, owners, AHJ’S, medical professionals, equipment providers, and researcher professionals) on a series of proposed key new requirements (and removal of outdated requirements) in the draft of the 2014 edition. There are proposals that affect critical care, emergency care, behavioral health, imaging, and nursing units as well as architectural details. Learn about proposed items addressing issues such as patient safety, healing environment, reduction in falls, and medication safety. These Guidelines changes directly impact the quality of the facility for the patient, staff and public. The Guidelines uses a consensus revision process – soliciting healthcare trends and design issues from the entire industry. Each of the proposed issues will be reviewed with the pros/cons of the new text. This will be an interactive session - comments will be sought from the audience. A voting system will be used, and all input will be recorded and reported to the 2014 HGRC at their final meeting. The Guidelines public comment process (June 1 - Nov 25) will be thoroughly explained to also allow the audience to submit their own comments. Learning Objectives: All participants will earn 1.5 CEH HSW. After viewing this webinar attendees will be able to: 1. Describe how proposed changes to the Guidelines will directly affect future design and construction projects of healthcare facilities. 2. Identify issues in the planning, design, and construction of hospitals that authorities having jurisdiction may expect your projects to comply with. 3. Gain information from the experiences of others who have used this document for health care design and construction projects to use as lessons learned for your own projects. 4. Apply your project experience to interpret and suggest improvements to the Guidelines document, which is widely used for design guidance and regulation of health care construction. #AcademyofArchitectureforHealth #AAH #webinar #Presentations #FacilitiesGuidelines #HealtchareEssentials #healthcare #FGI #Webinars
