Sarah Gudeman is a Mechanical Engineer, Principal and Practice Lead at BranchPattern, with nearly 20 years in the industry, engineering sustainability solutions for commercial real estate developers, designers, and organizations. As her many professional credentials attest, she excels in merging sustainability and building science into practical, cost-effective solutions to benefit the triple bottom line and make buildings better. Based in Omaha, Sarah's early passion for nature was cultivated by her father's career in environmental conservation through the Nature Conservancy.
Sarah leans into her top-five strengths—Futuristic, Achiever, Maximizer, Strategic, and Focus—to solve complex engineering challenges that arise in both new and existing buildings and improve performance through various lenses: carbon, energy, water, materials, and health.
An advocate for continuous learning and mentorship, Sarah frequently engages in public speaking and education, specifically air quality. She thrives on the dynamic nature of her work and loves deep-diving into technical topics and problem-solving, both as a leader and part of a team. Beyond technical interests, Sarah is passionate about social equity, an active community volunteer (especially the Teammates Mentoring Program) and a proud graduate of Leadership Omaha Class 45. You can also find her actively enjoying her other great passions, food and art in everyday life, on Instagram at @SarahEatsOmaha.
Always looking to connect people and ideas, Sarah's ultimate mission aligns with that of BranchPattern: "Improving Life through Better Built Environments." While remaining aligned with one of her personal guiding mottos: "Work Hard, Play Hard" and "Be the Change you want to see in the world".
