For exam prep you are not going to find a better resource than NCARB's ARE Forums: ARE 5.0 Community

Folks, how about using your specialty voice to note and lead the charge against the Trump Ballroom boondoggle? At minimum, delay it.

Hi Susan. AIA put out a press release this week focusing on the building's architecture and preservation aspects.  Please see the link below:

AIA Advocates for Preservation and Transparency in Proposed $200 Million White House Expansion

If you'd like to discuss this topic further in the community, it's better to start a new thread.

    Thank you.

    Hello Nasrin,

I am currently taking the AREs, and I've found the "ARE 5.0 Exam Review" by David Kent Ballast very helpful. Also, "Desk Crits: The Insider's Guide to the A.R.E. 5.0" was a good guide for using the overwhelming Ballast book and general study strategy. I also used both Black Spectacles and Amber Book. Both these web-based platforms have their positives and negatives. Black Spectacles is very thorough, but their videos are hideously boring to sit through. Amber Book,  by contrast, is interactive with good illustrations, but only focuses on getting you the bare minimum to pass. So, without a few years of professional practice, Amber Book may not be enough. Unfortunately, none of these are free nor covered by the AIA, but your local chapter may have a copy of the Ballast book to loan out. Hope this helps.
