The AIA Communities by Design (CxD) program is the single most impactful investment ever made in communities by the AIA and one of the largest sustained investments ever made in urbanism. Design Assistance Teams (DATs) brings together architects and other professional disciplines who work alongside the residents, professionals and institutions of host communities on key local issues. In the 50+ years of the program, we have worked with communities seeking assistance on key challenges ranging from climate change and equity to housing and revitalization, and everything in between.
