A tweet this morning caught my eye and I responded to a beautiful photo of a stack of worthy books with a very short list of my own important books. Please share yours!
- "Universities on Fire" by Bryan Alexander - a 75-year view as to what and how higher education will change (must change).
- "Rebuild: the Economy, Leadership, and You" by Graham Boyd - a fascinating mix of quantum physics, systems thinking, and leadership human skills
- "A History of the World in 7 Cheap Things" by Raj Patel - reframed my understanding of our economic systems and the massive inherent faults within them, based on how we cheapened things, intentionally, in order to profit from them (and continue to do so). SO powerful I actually wrote poetry about the revelations it created within me.
- "Humankind, a Hopeful History" by Rutger Bregman - a Dutch economist helped me to see that we build too many systems for the lowest expected performance, to control risk, and by doing so we create constant actual failures and degradation of these same systems and the people that interact with them.
- "Indirect Work" by Carol Sanford - a key resource of regenerative practice, looking at the personal reframing and perspective exercises and focus that are needed to change how we do all work, all life. I recommend any of her books.
These have been transformative to my thinking and my process. To be honest, I've JUST started "Universities on Fire", but have spoken with the author a few times. As a bonus here is one interview with him...the one on this book will come out in a week or two. E61 - Bryan and our Future
