    In response to Mr. King's post, the nursing profession does, indeed, use the professional designation for the non-research practice of nursing called Doctor of Nurse Practice, or the DNP.  A White Paper produced by the group some years ago indicated that the profession would be moving all nurse practice degrees, i.e., RN at the Associates Degree level, RN at the BS level, and RN at the MS level to the DNP, meaning that eventually all practicing, non-research nurses, would have this professional designation, just as medical doctors have the M.D., and attorneys have the J.D. Degrees.
