This is probably going to seem like a really dumb question, but do you know when the State of Virginia officially will (or already has) adopt the 2009 IBC.
After a seminar yesterday that declared that it was already adopted, I went to the State of Va. government codes site and it still references the 2006 IBC as referenced in  the VUSBC.  Searching on Google was even more interesting, as the results included Sept. 2010, Dec. 2010, January 2011 and March 2011.  They can't all be right, but they could all be wrong.  Any Virginian's out there with the straight scoop on adoption dates?

    Thanks for you help,

    Bill Bissell

The Virginia Uniform Bldg. Code, based on the 2009 iterations of the I-Codes (including the IBC), takes effect December 1, 2010.

FYI: Links to ICC code adoption resources (as well as other code advocacy tools) can be found at http://www.aia.org/igcc.

    From a Virginian:

To the best of our knowledge, the 2009 Virginia Construction Code is expected to go into effect on 1 March 2011, with a 1-year grace period.

So, if 1 March is the date, folks will have until February 2012 to utilize the 2006 Virginia Construction Code, though that's not a recommendation to do so.

Rather, instead, utilize 2009 now for projects in design, if acceptable with AHJ.

    Hope this helps.
