  • 1.  Limits on Operating Room floor vibration from foot fall

It is our understanding that the industry standard for operating rooms limits floor vibration from human footfall to 4000 µin/s (micro inches per second). Is this adequate for ORs where surgical microscopes of 50x are utilized?

The specific piece of equipment that is proposed should have specifications on what vibration is tolerable.  If not then you need to contact the manufacturer to obtain the information you need.  Then provide that to your structural engineer to design a floor system that can achieve the design criteria.
