This puts both the architect/designer team and the clinicians at a tremendous disadvantage and often ends up with a less than optimal performance of the completed building.
Joint Commission Resources has developed this new educational offering aimed towards clinical decision makers in health care organizations involved in major construction or renovation. The curriculum is specifically focused at bridging the gap between the architectural design process and the needs of hospital leaders as they strive to incorporate patient safety and quality into their design and build processes
The Safe Health Design Learning Academy will take place October 18-20, 2011. I invite you to consider sharing this with any of your hospital leadership colleagues or clients that may be at the beginning phase of considering a major hospital project. The fee for the program is a team fee of $2499 which will include up to 4 hospital leaders and also the opportunity to be involved in a community of learners for a year. The Learning Academy is in part funded by Herman Miller which offers JCR the opportunity to keep this registration fee to a minimum and to host the event in a learning innovative environment.
As a hands-on, experiential and intensive 3-day workshop hosted for 12 organization teams we bring together architects, interior designers, facilities professionals, clinicians, and health care leader faculty with the intent of enhancing communication during all phases of the design and build phases.
