This AIA Knowledge Community-sponsored workshop focuses on a design case study of the developing Greater New Orleans Bio-Innovation Economic Development District (GNOBEDD) around the two new downtown medical center campuses for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the University Medical Center (UMC) Louisiana State University (LSU), the largest current projects in New Orleans. Participants will learn how the two medical centers create a synergy vital to serving the New Orleans region, how the downtown location contributes to the revitalization of the city, and how the location and design of the medical centers integrate sustainable design to connect a regional public health vision with regional environmental health.
