In November, I posed the question, "What is healthcare Design?". See link below for reference. I received a variety of answers describing the challenges unique to healthcare design and some critique of excess cost without benefit. I would like to follow that up with a second question:
Within the context of what is unique about Healthcare Design, how do we define greatness? How do you determine that one building is significantly better than its peers? How do we single out those that have achieved something a step above the ordinary? Is it what it looks like? Is it innovative planning? Is it doing more with less? Is it the profitability of the client? Is it just a question of scale?
In the end, what do we value as a discipline?
