Along with Rating systems and carbon number crunching (and I think we pay too much attention to carbon), there has to be a third front- something that everyone can follow without taking entrance exams or a truck-full of documentation. A common sense approach to sustainability.
I have put together a list of things that I consider important and realize that the list is by no means exhaustive or complete or only related to architecture. Many of us already practice most of the items I have listed- Still, I think a common sense 'Manifesto' would be a nice addition.
