    Hello All,

Energy Efficiency is a huge part of national and international energy reduction goals. As Architects and Designers, communicating energy efficiency strategies to achieve a set energy goal is vital to promote this cause.

To assist non-technical oriented people in understanding the impact of design and to help technical minded people to quickly identify inefficiencies, I have come up with a way of communicating the energy story.

Please check out my site/blog at http://visualizegreen.com

What do you think of this approach?
Do you think there is a need for communicating sustainability to promote it?

It is overall a very effective approach. I'm assuming that the green arrow represents net energy returned to the grid. If that's so, it would be good to add that to the lable.

The Green arrows represent energy offset by renewable energy sources. The arrow on the top is to offset electricity based consumption - solar photovoltaics for instance. The arrow on the bottom is to offset fuel based consumption - solar hot water system for instance.

    Hello All,

In an effort to understand and educate, the basics of how a building consumes energy, I conducted an energy workshop at work. Our goal was to dissect the need, process and approach of achieving energy reduction targets.

If you are interested, you can watch this workshop in a convenient 15 min video format at

To make the workshop interesting I had quizzes every week. It was a great eight week experience.

Understanding why you need to consume energy is key to reducing the need for Energy.

    Thanks
    Prem

    Hello All,

I have made the Sankey Energy Diagram generator template available for free download at

It makes it very easy to create these diagrams with input in excel. All you have to do is to make changes to the Excel Live Link (also part of the download) based on your energy model results and then open the sankey template in e!Sankey to export the image. That simple!

Feel free to shoot me an email if you have trouble downloading or if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
    Prem
