    Can there be Science in City Planning?

    Living in cities or metropolitan regions has become the dominant human life-form with many more people now living in those urbanized clusters than outside of them. With cities gaining more and more importance, the search for the ultimate theory of cities intensifies.

    While nation states and even associations of nation states such as the European Union seem to be less and less capable to conduct themselves rationally i.e. make decisions based on facts and information, cities are more manageable political entities and seen by many as the places where seemingly intractable problems such as carbon emissions or transportation are solved and from where progress emanates
