Ahhh. If only the AIA were more proactive than reactive, such ignorance would not flourish in the media. The assertion that architecture is a useless profession is akin to asserting that the medical profession is only 20% useful because by its own admission 80% of the time folks get well without treatment. Until we as a profession educate the public about how the built environment is actually delivered - mostly without much assistance from architects - we can expect vacuous commentary to arise from the ranks of the uninformed.
