The AIA dues at around $700 a year are just too much. I also own a small practice. If the AIA wants to be all inclusive, then they should create a tiered fee system. Small firms should pay less and large firms (who often pick up the tab) should pay more. I am also frustrated with what the AIA has done (or really has not done) for our profession over the last 20 years.
Perhaps when they are faced with dwindling numbers due the economy, they will revise their policy.
