It seems to me there is an intractible problem with BIM.  The CAD operator knows the program well (maybe), but the gray-haired Architect knows construction (let's hope).  It is exceptionally difficult for the Architect to examine every bit of information the CAD guy has inserted, and know that it works.  The only plausible (theorethical) solution is to merge the gray-haired experience with the youthful computer geek.  I haven't seen this work in real life.  At the rate of software innovation and updating, it seems almost impossible just to keep up with half of problem.

Also: the legal issue of giving contractors access to the Architect's CAD model seems like a really big problem for most Architects, since most are used to the current system of fixing their mistakes during the shop drawing and construction admin phases.
