I've been using Vectorworks Architect for 6 years for residential and commercial projects. It has 2-d + 3-d capabilities, BIM, Rendering, Lighting and Landscape features. It has an robust community board and the tech folks at VW made my transition from 35 yrs. of hand drawing rather painless.
I cannot say enough about how this program has changed my practice!

I've used Vectorworks since 1995 after starting with a small firm in Pittsburgh. Since it is such a great software package I like using it just so I can say I do not use AutoCAD or Revit. I suppose I'm not one to follow the crowd.

It was easy to learn and easy to teach to other staff. Once I started my own practice, the choice was simple. Over the years Vectorworks has kept up with its competition and offers a great 2D/3D/BIM package at a fraction of the price. Version 2011 offers a new rendering engine, so we'll see what improvements they have made. I highly recommend it.
