The AIA Small Project Practitioners (SPP) requests articles (approximately 500 - 800 words) and practice tips (approximately 100-400 words) for upcoming SPP Journals. Please share an experience, an anecdote, a failure (lessons learned the hard way), or a proven best practice. Our next SPP Journal topics are:
Choosing (or Leaving) a Partner
Forming a partnership is the first step many of us take when going out on our own. How did you choose your partner? What were the challenges in learning to work together? How do you maximize each of your strengths? If you chose to be a sole practitioner, what factors contributed to this decision? If you were a member of a now-dissolved partnership, what events led to the dissolution, and what did you learn from the process? Those wishing to write about a dissolved partnership may publish anonymously. We know there are many stories out there, and we look forward to receiving your articles.
Social Networking: What has it done for you?
Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter are among the social networking tools available for marketing our practices. Do you find them useful, or see them as a colossal waste of time? How do you use social networking tools to promote your firm, and what responses have you received? What strategies have succeeded or failed?
Submission Deadline
Images and Submission Guidelines
Please visit the Guidelines for Authors. We are visually oriented people so please include graphics, drawings, or photographs that enhance your submission. We want to see behind-the-scenes construction photos, sketches, detail drawings and their transformation in the field. We even want cartoons.
The online SPP Journal is set for color images. Please submit images of at least 150 DPI as .JPG files integrated into your text, and include image credits and caption information.
Submit all text as MS Word documents and include a two- to three-sentence description of the author. Title your work, and include a signed copy of the copyright form (see Copyright Permission) listing the article and all images.
