I agree with Philip Stahl's message of hope. As I drive around in the neighborhoods of my own community, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, I am amazed at how much new residential tear-down and re-construction is underway this very minute. Is this new construction of a more reasonable moderate kind of housing? NO, it's not! The Mc Mansions are coming back! It's unbelievable - why? Because; there are quite a large number of unsold newer-built big houses still on the market that are adjacent or very close to all of this new construction.
The economy is getting better in spite of any political ideology.
I believe that now is the time for architects to be reaching out to become active participants again: Start driving around and networking with builders, village leaders and of course - your would-be clients!
