Subject: Call to Action: Shape the future of Building Codes - Applications for 2027-2029 Code Cycle.

Good afternoon,

The International Code Council (ICC) is currently seeking volunteers for its five Code Action Committees (CACs) and the Codes and Standards Council for the 2027-2029 code development cycle. This is a critical opportunity for AIA members to directly influence the future of building safety and performance.

As architects, our expertise is fundamental to the codes and standards that ensure the safety, resilience, and sustainability of our built environment. It is crucial that our profession is at the table. Your insights are invaluable for ensuring that future codes are practical, innovative, and reflect the highest standards of design. This is a chance to represent the architectural community and advocate for policies that matter to you.

The ICC is seeking professionals to serve on its Code Action Committees (CACs) and the Codes and Standards Council. These roles are more than just service-they are a chance to directly influence technical requirements and the overall development process of the International Codes. The CACs are discipline-specific and provide a platform to enhance the technical requirements of the I-Codes. Serving on a CAC can also prepare you for future appointments to code development committees.

Additionally, the Codes and Standards Council oversees the entire ICC code and standards development process.

The application deadline is December 1, 2025. AIA is seeking members interested in representing the Institute during the code development process. Please contact MicheleMihelic@aia.org if you are interested.

You can learn more and apply directly through the ICC's call for volunteers or please reach out to me with any additional questions.

Thank you for your consideration and for your dedication to the profession.
