One of my true pleasures as Past President of the Academy is my work in Talent Development. I like to think of it as matchmaking: I find talented people to fill interesting roles within the Academy. In the process, I get to know a lot of great people.
The success of our Strategic Planning efforts last year, plus the response to our all-member survey, resulted in a lot of fine matches for 2017 and beyond. With a true focus on our strategy, we can fully engage our volunteers in meaningful activities in support of the Academy’s mission, to provide knowledge which supports the design of healthy environments by creating education and networking opportunities for members of – and those touched by – the healthcare architectural profession.
There are still a few committees that can use another hand, including Outreach/Related Associations, Fellowships, and Scholarships. In addition, the Research Committee is looking for help from people who are skilled at InDesign. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or just want to know more about getting involved in the Academy, please reach out to us at aah@aia.org.
Sincerely,

Joan Suchomel, AIA, ACHA, EDAC
