Academy of Architecture for Health

As one part of the new direction spurred by the AAH strategic planning process, the Outreach Committee was formed to gather information on a wide range of groups involved in the creation of healthcare environments and in the delivery of healthcare. Through collaboration with the Communications Committee, we will make that information available to our members by being published in the Newsletter, on the website, via blast emails or in the Digest. In addition we intend to develop deeper relationships with organizations that could lead to joint projects such as webinars or white papers. 

The committee has developed a list of over 50 such organizations. If you have organizations you think would be useful to this team, please contact Georgeann Burns, Outreach Committee Chair at aah@aia.org.

Recent updates are included below for your information:

• The National Academy of Medicine (NAM), established in 1970 under the name *Institute of Medicine (IOM), is an independent organization of eminent professionals from diverse fields including health and medicine; the natural, social, and behavioral sciences; and beyond. In addition to its honorific functions, the NAM administers fellowships, scholarships, and awards; hosts workshops, expert meetings, and symposia; and conducts programs to enrich the broader work of the academies. The NAM also publishes Perspectives, an expert commentary and discussion paper series.
• The Center for Health Design hosts, and co-produces with the AAH, the Healthcare Design Conference and Expo, one of the industry's must-attend events. This year it will be held in Orlando and will feature extensive education programs as well as an exhibit by the nation's premier suppliers of products and services for healthcare environments. Additionally, the Center’s website provides a listing of on-going events including webinars, local events and regional symposia with current topics and trends.
• Diane Weber, Executive Director for the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) agreed to discuss opportunities to collaborate in a professional exchange of news and information beneficial to both AAH and SHSMD. Stay tuned for future updates, but in the meantime, check out their website for information about this organization.
