The AIA-AAH NextGen Committee began the year with a lively a discussion to answer this question: “What defines success for this generation in our profession?” The comments and topics mentioned on the committee call will inform the AIA/AAH Emerging Professionals Forum presentation by Tushar Gupta (AAH President – Elect) and Southern Ellis (AAH NextGen Committee Chair) at the ASHE PDC Summit in Nashville, TN. The forum will focus on engaging the next generation of health design leaders and equipping them to advance the built environment. Join the Conversation at ASHE PDC. This session occurs Monday, March 26, 2018 at 7-8am CST.
In an effort to continue to move into the role of the AAH “front porch” for young designers and researchers passionate about health design, the NextGen Committee will continue their Passion: Health Design conference call. On the call each month, a NextGen member from across the globe will give a short presentation on a specific passion within health design. The Spring Passion: Health Design lineup will feature Kaitlin Badlado (Washington DC), Graham Sinclair (Atlanta), and Zach Overschmidt (Kansas) and a variety of project case studies, research, revit tips, and design ideas. Email Southern at sellis@hksinc.com to join the discussions.

The Next Generation Committee is the front door for young architects, researchers, and architecture students entering the Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH). The committee seeks to introduce young people to the field of health design, relay its impact, and then serve as the gathering ground for this community to grow, empowering its members to become the future leaders in the field. This gathering ground will also serve as a well of youth for the various committees within the AAH to draw from, increasing generational diversity throughout the Academy. If you want to get involved with the committee, please contact aah@aia.org.
