FGI
The Codes and Standards Committee assembled a task force of AAH members to provide input to Scott, Rebecca and Bryan which was then used to develop proposals on the 2018 edition of the FGI guidelines. The review and comment period of the draft 2018 edition closed on Monday, December 12.
NFPA
The NFPA 101 and NFPA 99 sub committees developed proposals and comments on the 2018 editions of the documents. AAH board member Chad Beebe represented the academy at the committee meetings.
Support is still needed from the Academy membership. It is important that those involved in healthcare design represent the architectural profession on codes and standards when the opportunity arises. July 7th will be a very important meeting at NFPA in Boston in which members will have the opportunity to vote on key issues that impact healthcare design. To support the work that the Academy has done to prepare changes to the codes in the best interest of healthcare design profession and the patients our building serve it is important to attend this meeting to vote on these issues.
