IPD Lite and Lean Principles

07-26-2011 11:55 AM

Learn about Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) through a public sector case study of IPD implemented at the Western Massachusetts Regional Women’s Correctional Center, a multi-level security facility for women serving all the counties in Western Massachusetts. The Division of Capital Asset Management’s goal for the renovation is to utilize an IPD approach that enables a reduction in design and construction inefficiencies through tools such as Pull Scheduling, Set-Based Design, and intensive use of BIM as a decision-making instrument. The new addition will aim to fulfill the Center’s goals of creating an easier connection to local law enforcement and post-release supervision agencies, allow inmates to be closer to their children and families, provide a safer environment to incarcerated females through enhanced education and treatment programs, and increase access to gender-specific programs. (Corrections/Detentions Session (CD-2) presented at the AAJ Conference November 18, 2010.) Speakers Robert M. Brandon, AIA, Principal, Kleinfelder/S E A Consultants (moderator) Luciana Burdi, PhD, Project Manager, Process & Information Modeling Specialist Office of Planning, Design and Construction Division of Capital Asset Management Larry Lajoie, Assistant Superintendent, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department
