The new energy codes and guidelines are requiring very tight houses with little or no air infiltration. There has been much debate about the effect of this requirement on the indoor air quality of a house. At the same time, the new codes and guidelines are very general in their prescriptions with disregard to the different climatic zones in the United States. Camilo Parra, AIA, and Polly Ledvina, PhD, LEED AP Homes, discuss the indoor air quality issues in houses, and the look at how the certain guidelines are not applicable to certain climatic regions. The seminar looks at both custom and speculative housing markets. Stephen Schreiber, FAIA, moderates.
