NATIONAL SUMMIT ON WINDOWS AT WASHINGTON, DC’S HISTORIC EASTERN MARKET IN MAY 21-22, 2013.

"Windows: Old and New, Historic and Traditional" is the theme for this special two-day Summit.  The industry's leading experts will discuss a range of topics about the appropriate repair and replacement of windows in historic buildings.  This is one of the most important and controversial topics in traditional building and restoration today.

The Traditional Building Conference Series, in collaboration with the U.S. National Park Service, will present a special Windows Summit at the historic Eastern Market in Washington, DC.  This will be the second event in the 2013 series.  The program features seminars for continuing education credits, networking and special events.

The program features speakers who are experts, authors, practitioners and nationally recognized craftsmen and suppliers. The Traditional Building Conference is a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System and the Green Building Certification Institute.  Credits for certain designations in NAHB, NARI and AIBD are also available.

Eight workshops will feature more than 40 industry experts discussing the following topics: the history of window design in the United States; case studies involving window repair and replacement; technical differences between wood, aluminum and steel windows; curtain wall restoration for mid-20th century buildings; best practices for the maintenance and repair of windows; making the decision to repair or replace; the science of wood finishing and preservatives; and field and laboratory testing of windows.
