Technical Program
Running Sunday, June 23, through Wednesday, June 26, the Technical Program features a wide range of tracks on various built environment issues. Of special interest to AIA members are the Integrated Project Delivery mini-conference on Sunday and Monday and the Energy Modeling vs. Measurement and Verification track. The program allows architects and engineers to meet on the common ground of integrated project delivery where they work together to produce more cost effective buildings, and energy modeling for designing more efficient buildings.
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is gaining ground on traditional design-bid-build or contractor-at-risk project management scenarios, as successful IPD projects see condensed schedules, on-time delivery, managed costs and sustainable buildings. The IPD mini-conference includes presentations on:
· High Performance Buildings
· Case Studies on: Energy Efficient Building Design and Performance-Based Procurement Process
· Contracts
· HVAC Software to Support IPD
· BIM and IPD
The Energy Modeling vs. Measurement & Verification track investigates trends in building modeling and the realities of construction and O&M, such as systemic construction issues that lead to long term non-performance and training staff to operate a building as it was designed to perform. Sessions include:
· BIM, Commissioning and COBie
· Measured and Simulated Building Performance, with Emphasis on Existing Building Commissioning
· Quality BIM Objects for Lifelong Building Reality in a Virtual World
· Benchmarking Commercial Building Energy Performance
· Root Cause Analysis of Simulation and Performance Dissimilarity
· Comparison of Software for an Office Building Design in Mexico
· Laboratory Retrofit Case Studies
Focused Training on Building System Design and Performance
Held in conjunction with the ASHRAE Denver Conference are full-day professional development seminars and half-day short courses. AIA members can take advantage of the discounted ASHRAE member rate of $395 per full-day seminar and $119 per half-day course. ASHRAE Conference registration is not required to register for a seminar or course. Training topics of interest to AIA members include commissioning, energy management and high-performance. ASHRAE training is taught by industry experts. Each seminar and course has defined learning objectives that help attendees gain a full understanding of the topic and immediately apply the lessons covered. Visit www.ashrae.org/Denvercourses to learn more. Each seminar and course provides AIA LUs.
