Public Interest Design and Pro Bono Design in Healthcare

When:  Oct 29, 2012 from 05:30 PM to 07:00 PM (CT)

How can designers support communities that are eager for good design and assistance, and how can you get involved in offering socially responsible design? Inspired by MASS Design (http://www.massdesigngroup.org) and its work in Rwanda, a panel of local architects who have designed healthcare facilities in Haiti and Afghanistan, as well as Rwanda, will discuss their experiences and present their work.  We'll explain the difference between pro bono and public interest design, and you'll be able to ask our speakers straightforward questions about their experiences and how they integrate these types of work into their practice.

Speakers:

  • Troy Hoggard, AIA (Cannon Design)
  • Ann Clark (Ann Clark Architects)
  • Robert Schaefer, AIA (Anderson Mikos Architects)
  • Katherine Darnstadt, AIA (Latent Design and Architecture for Humanity/Chicago)
