In June, the Rhode Island Executive Office of Housing launched +1RI, an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) Design Competition, to encourage innovative, affordable, and accessible ADU designs that can help advance our Housing 2030 goals and expand housing opportunities for Rhode Islanders statewide.
We're looking for creative approaches that expand housing options, promote livability, and help Rhode Islanders remain connected to their communities - including designs that support aging in place and residents with diverse needs. This is a chance for applicants to showcase their ideas, contribute to the future of Rhode Island's neighborhoods, and help shape the next generation of housing solutions. We welcome submissions from architects, designers, students, and other creative professionals.
The application portal officially opens on our website on August 11 and is open through October 23.
