Tapping Into Passion to Ignite the Future educates and empowers participants to use empathy and understanding to provide opportunities for young people to build stronger communities. Thaddeus Bullard was often told as a young person that he would end up in jail or end up dead. Some people invested in him when they had nothing to gain for themselves. Today Thaddeus has made it his mission to create change for those in need. His highly inspirational story is full of lessons that we can all learn from so that we as architects and designers can have a larger impact on our communities. You'll leave this presentation with these valuable, long-lasting takeaways: (1) An understanding of how investment and philanthropy into school systems can help to build community; (2) How to be more empathetic to the various situations that others might find themselves in; (3) How we as designers can be philanthropic regardless of our means; and (4) There is no such thing as a bad kid.
