    Thanks Yanitza et al.
This annual report provides the most comprehensive look at the nations housing status. And like you I highly recommend both a skim and deep read. I look forward to it every year tho while exceptionally detailed it can be a bit disheartening.

A few recent trends persist and the report includes consideration of the new and evolving impacts of federal cuts to housing assistance and immigration policies both in terms of construction workforce and predicted household growth in our less than zero replacement population. I didn’t see mention of expected effects of tariffs but there is some discussion of economic downturn. I should have been aware that single family home square footage has been decreasing to help address rising construction costs but it was news to me.

    Thoughts form anyone else?

Thank you for sharing this, Yanitza. I reviewed the report and found it both sobering and insightful. The trends around cost burdens, shrinking homeownership access, and the continued erosion of low-rent stock really stood out to me. I was especially struck by the intersection of affordability pressures and climate risk-how rising insurance premiums, disaster-related displacement, and underinvestment and cuts in public supports are compounding vulnerability across so many communities. Would love to hear how others are seeing these patterns play out locally or in your work.

    Warmly,

    Femi Olamijulo

Thanks for posting. I've been sharing this through LinkedIn to my network. I had the pleasure of learning from Eric Belsky and Nick Retsinas who served as Directors before Chris Herbert. I like to watch their webinars to hear the presentations and discussions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvCuxEEK0gs
