  • 1.  EEOB now to NCPC

Hello! We recently posted about April 16 U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) hearing on the proposal to paint the historic granite exterior of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB). We asked you to submit comments before the CFA meeting, which focused on the design and aesthetic implications of this drastic change to a National Historic Landmark.

Now we're reaching out about the next step: the National Capital Planning Commission's May 7 meeting, where commissioners will hear public testimony and may vote on whether to allow this project to move forward. While the CFA review centered on aesthetics and design, this stage is about long-term impact. Painting the EEOB would cause irreversible physical harm to its granite facade, create ongoing and costly maintenance obligations that do not exist today, and set a troubling precedent for historic buildings nationwide. There is still time to make your voice heard before this critical decision.

The deadline for public comments is Wednesday, May 6 at noon ET and we encourage you to submit early: https://lnkd.in/ebEdSPge
